A 2-day backpack around the North Western Carneddau from Aber, approaching the massif along the Foel-ganol ridge and returning via Gyrn and Moel Wnion.
This circuit was suggested by the four Dewey tops in the Carneddau range that I had yet to visit. Foel-ganol and Yr Orsedd form a short ridge that give a new and natural line onto the main highway, while Gyrn and Moel Wnion complete the return leg, leading neatly back to Aber.
Almost constant sunshine once more and a great trip, but the easterly breeze mentioned in the weather forecast gave no hint that I would need to seek out a sheltered pitch: I had to descend quite a way to escape the strong wind on a protected shelf below Foel Grach.
There is more to report on the NeoAirs but I’ll make a separate post about that.

You seem to be spoilt with regards to backpacking weather Geoff, some more great photos. With regards to camping in the wind you should definately use an Akto!
I thought I’d better get out for a short trip before the dreaded hot and humid period is predicted to start: I’m one of the unfortunates that comes up in itchy red lumps from midge bites (definitely no incursions into Scotland next week!).
Heh heh, I would have been content with the capability of the LaserComp, I just prefer less hassle at the pitch!.
I’m looking forward to your report from Ireland, I know nothing about the walking over there.
Ireland is all new to me too, I have even bought a couple of walking guide books something I never usually do any more. For once I have not even planned a single walk, will wait until I get there and see what looks good. The maps are pretty useless and there is no rights of way system or legal access to the hills in many areas - should make getting into the hills interesting! On the plus side the hills are meant to be pretty much empty……………
Nice little trip. Interesting approach. I’ve always done it from the other side but the lower summits look more interesting than they appear on the map. BTW the end guy on your Laser looks a bit short ;o)
The end guys do look rather short on that picture, they are the original ones supplied with the tent. I always carry a good length of Dyneema cord in my kit now to supplement the existing lines if I think it necessary, or replace any that get broken.
