Wast Water Fells

Sunrise from Scafell PikeAnother fine circuit of the fells around Wast Water, this time including Yewbarrow and the Scafells. The weather on the second day was unexpectedly miserable with clag and drizzle in the afternoon and I took a different route than planned, pitching early in the hope of better things the next day, and it was a good decision: the next morning was one of those superb times to savour forever.

Another impressive account Geoff with wonderful pictures again - As you have realised were were only a few miles to your north west and as you were clambering over all those fells Lord Elpus & I were mainly in the pubs with a final fling up a single hill to camp nice high and away from it all.

Its what backpacking is all about.

Wonderful trip report. Really loved the photos. Wish mine were as good :)

Almost green with envy at the first one, view of the Scafells from Middle Fell. Never seen that before. Great stuff.

    Regards

    Alan,
Thanks again, apparently several online personas narrowly missed each other that time - I just missed one chap after leaving Sca Fell.
I can’t imagine climbing into the hills after alcohol (well I can actually, come to think of it:- a long time ago we spotted an excellent range of single-malt whisky brands in the Brotherswater Inn one night and climbed Helvellyn the next morning: never again!).

    Richard,
Thank you for the feedback. I’m still a point-and-shoot man really, I’m learning how to use Photoshop faster than I’m learning how to better use the camera!. I must find the time to remedy that.
Middle Fell is a great little hill, the views towards the Scafells are a fine bonus.
