A 2-day circuit of Cwm Eigiau and the northernmost Carneddau hills, from Dolgarrog on the west side of the Conwy valley to Llandudno Junction station.
The outward line starts at the Dolgarrog Dam memorial walk and climbs through the Coed Dolgarrog nature reserve to a low-level route around the Cwm Eigiau valley flank. The return ascends Tal y Fan and follows good paths and tracks through the hills around the Sychnant Pass, traversing Mynydd y Dref (Conwy Mountain) to Conwy.
Great to read you are back.
Thanks very much Alan.
It’s been months since we were out, the last time was when we fell down that ravine last September. A real tonic to be pitched at last.
Yes, welcome back Geoff. I thought the fall had put you off a bit. I’ve heard a cuckoo around the Maeneira area. It’s one of my favourite bird calls along with the curlew. Still got your other two trips to read. You put me to shame as it’s just over 12 months since my last wild camp.
Thanks a lot Steve.
The fall – or rather the escape from the situation – was satisfying in hindsight, we handled it well I think.
We joke about the cuckoos but it’s so good to hear them really, I believe they are declining like many others especially the curlews, our favourite (seen on the on the Shropshire trip).
